Full Disclaimer: I know I’m a diehard fan of Hilary Duff, but even if Hilary wasn’t starring in this series, I still stand by my words
The sequel to How I Met Your Mother, How I Met Your Father, premiered this last Tuesday on Hulu. The first three episodes are out now, and after watching them then scrolling on Instagram, I have a question.
Why is everyone saying they’re “cringing” or “can’t believe” they made How I Met Your Father? Does anyone remember when How I Met Your Dad starring Greta Gerwig, was going to be a thing?
Look, nothing is EVER going to be as good as the original. Is anything ever? But give the show a chance! It’s hard to top one of the best TV comedies that left a mark on us, but I’m sorry, How I Met Your Father won’t fill that hole.
I’m curious about how or what people imagined when the reboot idea was even in the works. Are people unhappy with the casting? The fact there’s no more Barney? The jokes don’t pop off as much? Eh, now that I type it, probably all of it.
So far, the first three episodes have:
We’re quick to turn away a new show if it doesn’t hold as strong as the original. But news flash to all, nothing will EVER be as good as the original. Why do you think no one ever really talks about Grease 2? (Yeah, I haven’t watched that either)
The show is still finding itself and is in the early stages of growing its audience. It took a while for How I Met Your Mother to grow on me, so here’s to hoping the same will happen for everyone with How I Met Your Father.
